ETIA researcher Konstantina Biza received an Honorable Mention in the Student Best Paper Award at the 13th International Conference on Probabilistic Graphical Models (PGM 2026), held in Valencia, Spain, from 9–11 September 2026.
The recognition was awarded for the paper “An AutoML-Powered Architecture for Causal Discovery,” co-authored with Sofia Triantafillou and Ioannis Tsamardinos.
The paper was presented during the conference’s opening technical session, Foundations of Causal Discovery, which brought together research on new methods for learning and reasoning about causal structures from data. University of Valencia
The work explores how principles from Automated Machine Learning (AutoML) can be extended to causal discovery, with the goal of automating more of the process of selecting, configuring and evaluating causal discovery pipelines.
This research is closely aligned with the scientific foundations of ETIA, which aims to make advanced causal analysis more accessible, scalable and applicable to real-world data.
The recognition at PGM 2026 highlights the continuing contribution of the ETIA research team to the development of automated causal discovery methods.
Congratulations to Konstantina and her co-authors on the recognition.
